YogaEarth Keen-Wäh Bars Review & Giveaway!

Let me start off my saying that today is the first day of Vegan MOFO (Vegan Month of Food) AND World Vegetarian Day! So, this month, I’ll be posting more frequently and my theme with be a Month of Grains. What better way to start it off with a post on quinoa and a giveaway? Yes, I know that quinoa is a seed, but it is still considered a whole grain, which are the type of grains that I’ll me making recipes with all month.

When I was asked if I’d like to review the Keen-Wäh Decadence Bars from YogaEarth, I became very excited. I have tried these bars once before, and loved them, so I’m glad that I get to do a thorough review for my readers and tell you what these bars have to offer. I’m a huge fan of organizing with bullet points, so it’ll be easier to find what you’re looking for in this review.

  • About the Company: Community, sustainability and health make up the core of the YogaEarth philosophy. YogaEarth supports local community development by sponsoring cleanup projects, events and organizations such as the World  Y.O.G.A project. They also loan 1% of all product sales to Kiva.org women micro-entrepreneurs via the non-profit organization’s sustainability-focused lending program in the developing world and all loans are directed to countries where YogaEarth sources its ingredients (i.e., quinoa from Peru).
  • Packaging: I honestly love the packaging of these products. With bold colors differentiating the flavors and a subtle background print, you can find your favorite in seconds. Bold text highlights the name of the bars, but the front of the package remains simple and clean, holding the most important information (organic logo, flavor, etc.) without seeming cluttered. Overall, eye-catching and what some might consider “cute”.
  • Ingredients/Nutrition: Not only are these bars organic, they have a list of ingredients that has a host of whole foods and some star superfoods, like chia seeds and of course, quinoa. They use raw cacao to coat the base, which makes these protein bars seem more like a dessert than a snack (but in a great way). Keen-Wäh Decadence bars are also Gluten-free and GMO free, yay! With 6g of Protein per bar, these make for a good snack that will hold you over until your next meal or would be perfect for having right before working out.

  • Organic Chocolate Chia: This flavor is doubly chocolate with its chocolate-y inside and smooth chocolate coating; if you’re a lover of chocolate, this one is definitely for you. When you bite into it, you’ll find crunchy quinoa crisps in the midst of cacao butter, almond butter and chia seeds. Do you ever work out at night? This would be a great dessert-like snack for afterward.

  • Organic Coconut Almond: I have to say, this one is my favorite, although it’s pretty hard to choose as they are all delicious. The Coconut Almond flavor is slight less decadent than the Chocolate Chia, but doesn’t skimp on flavor. I am a huge fan of coconut, so once I bit into the chocolate-covered base, I was in love. (Don’t tell Corey ;))

  • Organic Cayenne Cinnamon: This one was also a total hit with me, I love mixing spicy with sweet, as well as cinnamon. So, this flavor took all of those points and wrapped them into one neatly wrapped, protein-filled package. The cayenne isn’t too overpowering or overly spicy, it just emits a subtle heat after you’re done enjoying it. I love that!

Overall, I really enjoyed trying these bars out. I think that they’re a great alternative to a lot of the protein/workout/”natural” bars out there, especially when you compare what they use to make them and the ethics behind the company. If you’re on the run, or are an active person, it’s a good idea to have these on hand! You can order the Keen-Wäh Decadence Bars online, for your convenience.

YogaEarth has also been kind enough to give away some bars to lucky winners, so hold tight for the giveaway contest entry!

  7. I think the coconut almond one looks AMAZING! I’m a huge coconut fan. It’s so hard to find good protein/breakfast/granola bars these days, and these look absolutely incredible.

  8. Woah dang baby, those are some nice looking bars. The cayenne cinnamon sounds awesome, I think because I’m obsessed with the Theo Spicy Chili chocolate bar.
Looking forward to your Vegan MoFo posts!

  9. The coconut almond would probably become my favorite of the three but the chocolate chia sounds really good too! I’ve never tried cayenne in a snack bar, and I definitely wouldn’t pass up a chance to try something new.

  10. Omg! Chocolate chia sounds so delish! But cinnamon is also one of my weaknesses (the spicy&sweet combination of that bar reminds me of Chai Tea!). Plus it has no milk but it does have chocolate yumm. I can’t find organic vegan bars here where I live, it’s very difficult to find vegan/organic alternatives to energy/snack bars, I gotta go to the city and it’s also difficult to find those kind of things there. They sound like a great snack before having my swimming and rollerskating lessons.

  11. They all sound so delightful, I’ll be buying them for sure if I don’t win (:

  12. Coconut almond looks amazing! I’ve been craving a bar like these they all sound really good. I’ve started doing yoga about over a month ago and I rarely eat before/ right after but I’d be all over these for an energy boost!

  13. I think I’d wanna try the cayenne cinnamon one because it sounds super interesting and I love spice 🙂 These would be perfect for my boyfriend and I as we are trying to find more unique ways to incorporate protein in our vegan diet. Plus we both work physically intense jobs so these would be great!

  14. Will definitely be trying the cayenne cinnamon as soon as I can get my hands on one! Sounds like a great kick of energy.

  16. I would try coconut almond… my two favorite things in one bar + i adore quionoa

  17. I cannot wait to try the chocolate chia bar! I love that all the bars have whole and superfoods in them…but I am always a sucker for chocolate. Raw cacao is amazing, and I think this bar will be a good snack that will feed my sweet tooth.

  18. While I’d usually choose coconut over everything, the cayenne cinnamon sounds so enticing! I’d definitely like to try that bar the most.

  19. They all sound delicious, but I’m a sucker for chocolate, so the chocolate chia wins.

  20. I’d love to taste the cayenne cinnamon! It would be perfect for me because those are my two favourite spices, I never would have thought of mixing them together in a delicious sounding bar like this!

  23. I would definitely go for the sweet/spicy thing. I’ve had quinoa bars before and I love ’em! (never this brand though)

  24. Orange cayenne cinnamon seems most appropriate right now at 0853 — a good kick to rev up the morning!

  25. Mm… I love the chocolate ones! i just discovered these a couple months ago and I”m hooked 🙂 So excited to hunt through the rest of your blog!! Hi from your newest reader!

  30. Definitely coconut almond! Anything with coconut, really. I mean, come on.

  31. I want to try chocolate chia because it combines two of my fav foods all in one!

  32. I’m a food package design NUT! I love these wrappers and how can you help but drool at how delicious they look!

  33. Whoops and the cayenne/cinnamon sounds the most appealing- spicy sweet?! yes, please.

  34. I would love to try the coconut almond. I love coconut. The taste of it and its health benefits. I also love almonds. Now combining the two is heavenly.

  35. Definitely the chocolate chia. My love for the two separately is unparalleled and combining them together? genuis

  38. Anything with coconut or chocolate sounds divine! Thanks for the review!

  39. I love the spicy/sweet combo, too, so I’d love to try the cayenne cinnamon. These would be great to just drop into my bag in the morning, since I usually don’t eat enough during the day to keep my energy up. Thanks for the review!

  40. I would love to order the Organic Chocolate Chia because I am a major chocoholic!

  41. I am most interested in the Organic Chocolate Chia ones, and they would be perfect for me because they sound delicious, are vegan AND gluten free (I have celiac disease). 🙂

  43. Oh those look good! I’ve never heard of them though. However with those photos you definitely captured my interest. I’d love to try the coconut almond. I’m always on the lookout for a good bar.

  44. coconut almond sounds great! and i am basically addicted to quinoa, so I’d love to try these!

  45. I’d love to try the cinnamon ones they sound really Autumnal and comforting which is just what I need this time of year 🙂

  46. The Cayenne Cinnamon flavour sounds absolutely fabulous and spot on for this cold weather! Give us some heat!

  47. I would most like to try the Coconut Almond Bar! I am a coconut freak and live for the stuff. It sounds soooooo yummy!

  48. I would love to try the coconut almond!! I’ve been vegetarian since I was 14 and I’ve always tried to eat healthy. These bars look perfect!!

  49. I would love to try the cayenne cinnamon bar because It is just what i have been looking for as a healthy vegan snack, and I would love to try one to see if I like them or not.

  50. The organic chocolate chia looks great! I’m currently a student and don’t always have time to grab a snack in between classes (and when I do, there aren’t many healthy options), so this looks like it would be perfect for me to stick in my bag. I also love love love quinoa. And chocolate.

  51. The Cayenne Cinnamon sounds sooo good, anything with a little spice would do the trick for me

  52. I’ve been making all of my post-work & pre-work out snacks for a while now. I’m a nutritional health nut and I have manipulated dates, prunes, figs, raw nuts, any dry fruit, oats and every seed you could believe in my bars!! You name and I wouldnt be surprised if I havent experimented with it. However, I have yet to try a bar incorporated with Quinoa. I think it would be fantastic! The flavor variety represented is interesting too! I mean cinnamon cayenne! I put cayenne in everything since i’m from New Orleans, LA, but in a health bar? I have yet to try that either! An additional thing about New Orleans,LA is that we don’t have a huge array of health items here due to the culture here. Im pretty much an outcast in the way I eat around here. Getting your hands on healthy treats isn’t easy. The only place is Whole Foods, but we only have two and they don’t carry as much as the others around the U.S. I would love to win the prize pack in order to try new things and then try to mimic it in my kitchen!

  53. i would love to try the coconut ones… i’m the only one in my family who likes coconut, so more for me!! is that selfish??…. nahhh.
