Review: Eat Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY.

I showed up in New York on a nice fall day, the weather was actually a little warm and I was a bit overwhelmed by being in such a different environment than I’m used to. After I got settled in, I found myself in need of some food; I was supremely jet-lagged and not trying to walk too far from where I was staying. Thankfully, I had purchased the Happy Cow app for my phone so all I had to do to find a vegan-friendly place for me to satisfy my hunger.

One of the restaurants closest to me with vegan options was a cute, little place called “Eat“. There’s no real sign outside and if you walk at a quick pace you’ll more than likely miss it. Once you walk in the door, you enter a space that is as simple and clean as the place’s name. Off white walls with modern lighting and bench seating, decorated with seasonal produce and herbs hanging to dry. The kitchen is tiny and far back in the large room, the wooden furniture and chalkboard menu give off a rustic and comforting vibe.

This restaurant has a menu based on whole and organic ingredients, although only a few vegan options are on it, what they do have is pretty good! The server was attentive and helped me pick a dish that met my dietary needs, and while I was waiting I decided to snap some shots of the restaurant and the unique ceramic dishes and assorted dishware.

I ended up going with a bowl of black bean soup with homemade focaccia, I’m a sucker for black beans, seriously. The taste was good, but the texture was a little off, a little too watery for me. The focaccia was good, and was great for dipping in the soup. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here; not to mention, I ended up speaking with an older gentleman about his life for about 45 minutes (hilarious!). I’m not sure how I always seem to attract these people, but I’m glad that I did because it made my day all the more interesting. 🙂

And here’s a pumpkin on their shelf for good measure!
