Review of Fran Costigan’s Vegan Chocolate Cookbook, plus a giveaway for a copy of the book and a recipe previews!
Now, you may have seen Vegan Chocolate, hmm… just about everywhere in the last couple of months! Chocolate Queen Fran Costigan and amazing photographer Kate Lewis have created this magical bundle of incredible chocolate recipes; all of which are vegan. If you don’t like chocolate, I suggest you click away, like pronto. ‘Cause it is about to get rich, sweet and cocoa-y up in here.
I was lucky enough to have assisted on the set of Fran’s cookbook trailer, so I got a taste of what was to come before the book was out. I helped make the Sachertorte about three times and never got sick of having a slice after we were done with each one. Seriously, that thing was insane, and I had nearly memorized the recipe by the time it was over because it is very easy to make.
After I got my copy of what I would like to call “the Vegan Chocolate Bible”, I flipped through the pages carefully, deciding on what I wanted to make and what would be fun for the holidays. When I saw the recipe for Chocolate Vodka, I knew that I would FOR SURE make it. Hopefully my pseudo-mother-in-law and my own mother aren’t reading this, because they are each getting a bottle as part of their Christmas gifts.
Next, I found the recipe for Graham Crackers and saw just how easy they were to make. Bingo! That was my second recipe and honestly, it was really hard to save them up for a couple of days so that I could coat them with the Chocolate Olive Oil Glaze. You want to talk about easy? How about two ingredients (with an optional third) to make an awesome chocolate glaze that you can dip anything in? Yes, freakin’ please.
I feel as though I may dunk my way into insanity, trying to find awesome things to coat in chocolate and serve to people. At least I’m a giver, right? 😉 Speaking of giving, ’tis the season and I’m hosting a giveaway for one copy of Vegan Chocolate: Unapologetically Luscious and Decadent Dairy-Free Desserts! Oh, you lucky readers, you.
Happy Holidays, and good luck! <3

I would give it to my mom who's convinced desserts can't be vegan.
