Now, you may have seen Vegan Chocolate, hmm… just about everywhere in the last couple of months! Chocolate Queen Fran Costigan and amazing photographer Kate Lewis have created this magical bundle of incredible chocolate recipes; all of which are vegan. If you don’t like chocolate, I suggest you click away, like pronto. ‘Cause it is about to get rich, sweet and cocoa-y up in here.

I was lucky enough to have assisted on the set of Fran’s cookbook trailer, so I got a taste of what was to come before the book was out. I helped make the Sachertorte about three times and never got sick of having a slice after we were done with each one. Seriously, that thing was insane, and I had nearly memorized the recipe by the time it was over because it is very easy to make.

After I got my copy of what I would like to call “the Vegan Chocolate Bible”, I flipped through the pages carefully, deciding on what I wanted to make and what would be fun for the holidays. When I saw the recipe for Chocolate Vodka, I knew that I would FOR SURE make it. Hopefully my pseudo-mother-in-law and my own mother aren’t reading this, because they are each getting a bottle as part of their Christmas gifts.

Next, I found the recipe for Graham Crackers and saw just how easy they were to make. Bingo! That was my second recipe and honestly, it was really hard to save them up for a couple of days so that I could coat them with the Chocolate Olive Oil Glaze. You want to talk about easy? How about two ingredients (with an optional third) to make an awesome chocolate glaze that you can dip anything in? Yes, freakin’ please.

I feel as though I may dunk my way into insanity, trying to find awesome things to coat in chocolate and serve to people. At least I’m a giver, right? πŸ˜‰ Speaking of giving, ’tis the season and I’m hosting a giveaway for one copy of Vegan Chocolate: Unapologetically Luscious and Decadent Dairy-Free Desserts! Oh, you lucky readers, you.

  1. Of course, I’d love to acquire this for myself, as things like cookbooks and baking supplies always turn into gifts for others to enjoy πŸ˜‰

However.. I know my best friend Lauren would love this, because, though she is not vegan, she is a cupcake baking fanatic (even has Chloe Coscarelli’s book,) and loves baking vegan things with me, so I know she’d enjoy delving into chocolate πŸ˜‰

  2. Give it away? Cruel! But I would give it to my momβ€”we took a chocolate making class together in my pre vegan daysβ€”we both LOVE chocolate!!!

  3. I would give this to my best friend, although she isn’t vegan I think this would be a great way to get her to make more vegan foods. She has a big sweet tooth just like me!

  4. The biscuits look extreamly tasty, bad move on my part reading this post per breakfast

  5. Did you say chocolate vodka!?! Holy horses I am in! I was able to hear Fran speak this past summer in NYC and I would be so honored to have her tasty chocolate recipes amongst my other treasured vegan cookbooks in my kitchen.

  6. mmmmm. I love chocolate! I could definitely use some help getting more of it in my life! πŸ™‚

  7. I have a friend who seems blissfully unaware that he is teetering on the brink of becoming a vegan. I’d nudge him with chocolate for sure.

  8. Are those pretzel crisps with a chocolate drizzle?! I love it!

Also…chocolate vodka…? Sounds like a game changer to me.

  9. Why wouldn’t I be able to keep it?! How sad. I would probably give it to my friend Sarah who sends me packages sometimes.

  10. If I couldn’t keep it (which would be the biggest bummer ever!) I would give it to my mom who is the biggest chocolate lover I know! πŸ™‚

  11. I would give it to my MIL, who strives to make every meal welcoming to me and my vegan son…………with always a vegan dessert to share at dinner’s end!

  12. I would give it to my my neighbor so she could bake delicious things and then share with me!

  13. Dear dear Jackie,
Thank you so much for this wonderful review with great photos and of course your stories. How’d I never think about making heard shaped Graham Crackers (or as some little ones who make them say- Gramma Crackers). Love too the chocolate dip and the chocolate dipped apples.

Your help on the video shoot was vital. Always in a good mood (you-me- Kate Lewis) thanks to the always there Chocolate Cakes and Creams, we worked hard but had fun and a good result. If your winner would like a personalized book plate, let me know and I’ll send one off!!

Now, for me, back to the kitchen to make some Chocolate Chip Almond Anise Biscotti and Grahams to give as gifts!!

    All best
    Fran Costigan

  14. I would give it to one of my friends. She isn’t vegan, but has done some vegan baking (and always loves the vegan baking I do).

  15. This book looks unbelievable. My mom has had a difficult time with staying vegan and having a huge sweet tooth. I know she would definitely love and appreciate this book!

  16. Total honesty, if I won the book and had to give it away again I would put it through another giveaway for my tumblr veganfood. Hmm… I have one really good vegan friend but she doesn’t cook very much. Maybe I could give it to my mom in hopes she’d randomly make me sweets?

  17. I would give my cookbook to my boyfriend, so he could make me lots of vegan food! :]

  18. I’d give this book to my mom. She’s a chocoholic, just like me, but she’s not vegan. So this would help give her some vegan chocolate inspiration.

  19. I would give it to my mom that loves chocolate and would hopefully bake for me!

  20. What timing! I’m also working my way through this cookbook in preparation for a sweet review. So far, so good, but I didn’t expect anything less from Fran. πŸ™‚

  21. Oh, I want to make the graham crackers with the chocolate olive oil glaze – this is my favorite kind of cookie! After that one I would proceed with the rest of the chocolate recipes, because all of the recipes sound so incredible decadent and delicious!

  22. I’m sorry, I didn’t read about the question I needed to answer in the comment!
If I would be so lucky to win this cookbook I would give it to my boyfriend who has never baked anything in his life and he would give it to me so I would make him chocolate cookies, cakes and pies!

  23. I would give it to my brother in law who is a chef but doesn’t know much about vegan cooking yet!

  24. I would give this to my mom who tries to eat a “healthy” diet but doesn’t understand yet that diet sodas and sugar-free Jell-O don’t exactly count!

  25. I would give it to my mother, she loves chocolate and is not vegan but since I am she is always looking for ways to make things we can both have

  26. If I couldn’t keep this book, I would give it to my sister in law who is a self-proclaimed chocoholic, and it would show her how good being vegan can be!
