Chocolatelove: Raw Cacao Green Smoothie!

It’s the day after Valentine’s Day and I hope that each and every one of you had a good, if not great, day. Mine was filled with some yummy vegan food, more importantly, desserts! But, now, it’s back to being good and that’s why I have this delicious (but ugly) concoction of a smoothie for you!

This is the perfect smoothie to help you transition from decadent Valentine’s Day foods, back to healthier eating habits. It has luxurious, raw Cacao Powder that’s full of antioxidants, a banana for potassium and to use as a natural sweetener, chia seeds for fiber and protein, and kale which is a nutritional powerhouse in its own right; you can’t forget the orange for that boost of vitamin C. Overall, this smoothie has a lot going on and is great for you.

Serves: 1 Large Smoothie

  • 1 Frozen Banana, in Chunks
  • 1 Medium-sized Orange, Peeled
  • 3/4 Cup Kale, De-stemmed
  • 1/4 Cup Navitas Raw Cacao Powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds
  • 1/2-3/4 Cup Water

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree completely, making sure that you completely break down the kale (which can be a little tough and fibrous). Add ice cubes to your smoothie if you would like it to be colder (or if you do not have a frozen banana on hand).

The bloghop, this month, is filled with so many amazing blogs! I love that I’m able to be a part of it, and continue to share the foodie love. Here’s a list of all of the bloggers that are participating!

    • Thank you, Erin! I hope that you can have a glass of it sooner than later. πŸ™‚

  1. Awh, I don’t think it looks bad! Love the orange thrown in there with the banana, kale, and chocolate – I bet it’s wonderful. I always mean to put an orange in with my smoothie but forget to. Sounds delicious.

    • I’ve had a bit of a surplus of oranges around here lately so I find myself throwing in an orange wherever I can sometimes! But, I truly love them in smoothies, they add a nice acidity to mellow, sweet bananas (which I usually use for my smoothie bases).

  2. I bet the orange was fantastic with that cacao! I drink at least 1 green smoothie a day… I only wish they were a prettier color to photograph. The only I posted today looks like sludge. Tastes amazing though! πŸ™‚

    • I do the smell test when it looks weird. As long as it smells good I know that it’s completely edible. Although, I’ve made some stinky juices before that still tasted great! ha ha
